The Cloud is becoming ever more critical within healthcare digital solutions provision.

The cost, support, maintenance and resilience of on-premises infrastructure has become a significant dilemma for NHS Trusts.

Since 2013, the UK Government Cloud First policy directs public sector organisations to consider Cloud first before alternatives such as on-site data storage, and the NHS ‘Cloud First Strategy’ points that digital services should move to public Cloud (hosted in the UK) unless there is a clear reason not to do so.

At Health Call, we are perfectly placed to support organisations in addressing the moving, or implementation, of solutions into a public Cloud environment. As a wholly NHS-owned company, we are also best placed to understand Data and Cyber Security requirements of NHS organisations, and will always place them at the forefront of our services.

Our team is experienced in providing public Cloud infrastructures including Infrastructure as Code (IaC). However, we are also acutely aware of the challenges in maintaining legacy systems and supplier environment constraints where true public Cloud may not be appropriate; here, a hybrid private Cloud ‘virtual server’ based approach may be needed, and we can work with you to best implement this.

We work with leading Cloud partners in the business, particularly within the Microsoft Azure space.

We are always happy to discuss this matter and understand the complexities involved; if you’d like further information, please get in touch.

Public Cloud Services

Utilising Public Cloud infrastructures helps NHS organisations to deliver ICT and digital systems that are flexible and responsive to demand – allowing them to continue operations without disruption during times of increased, and/or unforeseen demand. Our Public Cloud services come with the benefit of the highest levels of availability and seamless infrastructure support and maintenance, leveraging the best in scalability, consumption-based pricing and economies. These allow organisations to leverage the latest technologies in order to continue delivering benefits to clinicians and staff, and the very best of care to patients.

Also of consideration for NHS Trusts is that the Public Cloud will help them to reach sustainability and Net Zero targets.

Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud

Where necessary, due to the requirements of the Trust and/or supplier solutions, a Private Cloud or hybrid approach may be required. In these circumstances, the provision of off-premise supported infrastructure can give Trusts the options to move to Cloud. This approach can reduce the cost and overhead of on-premise infrastructure and access the best in system performance, availability and security.
